Quiet Space #2:
“Between Earth and Sky”

Description

A digital artwork by mkemp created in 2026 using Inkscape. Maximum printable size of original is 7200×10800 or 24×36 inches. Web image has been re-sized and compressed.

Deep blue descends into smoky mauve and warm brown, giving this abstract image the feeling of twilight thickening into earth. The yellow circle hovers almost mid-point in the frame, luminous but restrained, as if it has not quite risen or fully set.

The gradient functions as a corridor between day and night, thought and embodiment. Blue carries calm and distance, while brown introduces gravity, memory, and material life. The circle may be a moon, an inner compass, or a buried thought. Its placement suggests waiting, a threshold moment before direction becomes clear.

Artist’s Comment

I too, see earth and sky as symbolic poles anchoring this transition. The questions I am asking in this image are: What is the difference between earth and sky? Is one more preferable than the other?
